My new stats

Today I went for my 2 month dr. visit and I now weigh 9 lbs, 2 oz and am 20 in. long. Wow...I gained a 1 lb and 1/2 since my last visit 2 weeks ago! I also got 4 shots in my leg. That was NOT fun. I screamed so hard that I could hardly catch my breath!

This pumpkin is 2 months old!

I'm 2 months old now. Today, my mom, dad and I went to the pumpkin patch at the Methodist church down the street from our house. We bought 3 pumpkins for our house. They are as big as me! Yesterday was my dad's birthday. We watched football, ate pizza (I drank formula) and slept.

Sleeping away

At 8 weeks old and about 8 lbs, I'm still sleeping in my bassinet. I really like to sleep. My mom and dad have to wake me most times to eat. Up until this week, someone woke me every 3 hours during the night to eat. Now, I get fed around 11:30PM and my mom wakes me at 5-5:30AM to eat. I'd probably sleep all night if they let me!....Hopefully soon I get to do that!

My baptism

On October 15th I was baptized at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. My cousins Beth and Luke Tow are my godparents..and my little cousin Lily Clare is my god sister. We had a great day. My Grandma and Grandpa Lamberson came from FL. My great aunt Sharla came from TN. My uncle Kyle was there and videotaped me. Grandma Pat and Uncle Devin were also there. Afterwards, we all went for brunch and cake at Garrison's in the Vinings. I slept most of the time...was worn out from the events earlier in the day.

Grandma and Grandpa Lamberson visit me

My Grandma and Grandpa Lamberson love me to pieces! They visited me in the hospital and came back to visit when I got home. They love the fact that I'm a girl.

Grandma Pat and Uncle Devin visit

Grandma Pat and Uncle Devin came to stay with me for a month and a half. Grandma cooked and did all my laundry and uncle Devin was a big help carrying my diaper bag and sitting in the back seat with me while we went to dr. visits. He's put my pacifier in my mouth and showed me toys when I cried.

Sleeping with mom

I like to sleep with my mom. Dad feeds me before he leaves for work in the morning and lets me sleep with mom until later on in the morning. Since I can't be inside her tummy anymore..I like laying on the outside of her.

Still hanging out...

I also like to hang out in my bouncy chair. I really like when the chair rocks and vibrates. I think that I take after my dad...he loves to rock too. I like to stare at the bright colors on the ruffle of my chair.

Hanging out!

Here I am hanging out in my swing. Since I am a colicky baby, I LOVE my swing..especially in the evenings. I really like to swing and watch my Baby Einstein videos.

1 month old!

I'm now 1 month old and weigh 5 lbs, 8 oz. I also had my first outing to Atkins Park...mom and dad's favorite local Symrna restuarant. Grandma Pat and Uncle Devin were also along. I slept the entire time!

My first bath

I don't enjoy baths as much as my mom!...at least not yet. Mom and dad try to bathe me as quick as possible as I SCREAM the entire time.

I'm getting bigger..

I'm starting to fill out my Preemie clothes and now weigh 4 lbs, 11 oz. My dad's hand sure is big!

What's this baby doing???

I sleep in a bassinet beside mom and dad's bed. My puppies are slowly adjusting to me being around. They are curious of me when I cry. Although I don't have much to do with them now, in a few months I'll probably think that they are the funniest things. Hopefully, I'll continue to sleep through their barking, and they will continue to tolerate me!

She finally comes home!

My last hurdle was taking 8 bottles a day of 40 cc's each. That was a lot of food for my little tummy! On Labor Day I came home to mom, dad, and my puppies, Jack and Brantley. My discharge weight was 4 lbs, 5 oz..a little more than my birth weight. Mom and dad were nervous taking such a tiny baby like myself home, but all went well. Mom rode in the back with me, and I slept most of the way home.

Sara learns to drink from a bottle

I'm learnng to drink from a bottle. The suck, swallow, breath pattern is something that babies learn during their last weeks in the womb. Due to my prematurity, I had to learn after I was born. I struggled at first as I tried to breathe through my mouth while eating. I had to do every other feeding with a feeding tube for awhile until I gradually worked my way up to all bottles. Now, I'm a champ at taking my bottle!

Welcome Sara Kate Lamberson!

We are all glad that we are here to tell the story of Sara Kate's arrival! Sara was due on October 3, 2006. Drew and I were very excited about her upcoming arrival. We didn't know if she was a he or she and really enjoyed keeping "her" a suprise! On August 18th, I went to a routine dr. appointment (33rd week of pregnancy) and due to high blood pressure and spilling proteins was sent from there to Northside Hospital. Drew met me there and shortly there after it was determined that I had preclampsia and that little Sara would be born within 2 weeks. I was kept in the hospital for 24 hr. monitoring. We were relieved when we saw the baby on a sonogram doing well. We were told that "he" weighed some where around 4 lbs, 6 oz, so that made us feel pretty good. Throughout the next few days we had several ups and downs of moving rooms due to scares with the baby's heartrate dropping and my blood pressure rising. On the night of Monday, August 21st., my blood pressure reached 197/120 and after 3 tries, the drs. and nurses could not get my blood pressure down. So, we were moved to labor and delivery for induction the next morning. When we got to labor and delivery, I was put on a horible medication called magnesium sulfate to control seizures caused by the high blood pressure. After a miserable night, the induction started at 7:30AM as planned. I lasted 1 hr and then begged the dr. to perform a c-section. We were all much happier when she came back and said.."ok..at 10AM we will go to the operating room!". The rest was history...Sara Kate came into this world at 10:50AM on August 22nd weighing 4 lbs, 4 oz and was 16 in. long. We couldn't believe that she was a girl as we thought the whole time that she was a he! We were thrilled! Her and dad immediately went to the transition nursery where she was monitored. From there she went to the NICU for oxygen, forced air, tube feeding and body tempature regulation. The nurses there were wonderful and we really felt comfortable knowing that she was in good hands. They loved her name and said that she was going to be the next movie star..."Sara Kate Lamberson"..they kept saying. Mom on the other hand went to postpartum to recover. The recovering wasn't going as expected as the fluid started to filtrate around my lungs. Oxygen in tact, I was transferred back to "high risk". After another day or so, I started feeling better and FINALLY dad was able to wheel me down to the NICU to see our little girl. At first sight, I cried..she was SO tiny and had lots of tubes going in and out of her. I was assured by the nurses that she was doing very well, and that the sight was much worse than what it actually was. By that Saturday, I was released from the hospital, but little Sara Kate had to remain in the NICU. It was so sad to leave the hospital without her. Every night after dad would come home from work, we would go to the hospital to see her. About a week later, Sara was transitioned to the Preemie nursery. We were thrilled! By that time, I could drive and could sneak in a few extra visits a day. Finally on Labor Day we got the call that she could come home! The dogs weren't sure about how they felt about her arrival but have adjusted well.
